Overheated components can indicate major problems with any electrical system, and finding the problem early – before a catastrophic failure occurs – can reduce downtime and equipment damage, in addition to repair costs.

Our infrared electrical inspection is non contact and can be performed at any time of the day without having to shut down the electrical supply to your building. An inspection by Insight Thermal Diagnostics using infrared technology can reveal:

overloaded (or hot) circuits
undersized circuits
faulty wiring or failing components
bad connections

Some common equipment recommended for regular inspection include:

transformers fuses
bushings power panels
motor controllers motors
breakers generators
contactors bus bars
lighting panels capacitors
transfer switches

Infrared technology is the best way to detect problems that compromise the reliability and safety of your electrical systems before a failure occurs. Our Thermal Diagnostics Survey report will document the issues we find and our evaluation of each problem. The report will include natural and infrared photographs where necessary to demonstrate our findings

Examples:

The following image shows a cable to buss bar connection for feeding a pump:
Notice the red color signature encoded within the thermogram clearly shows the connection is excessively hot and needs attention.

The following thermogram demonstrates a loose electrical connection:
Excessive heat is indicated by the color signature. While the repair was quick and simple, the result could have been much more costly. The use of thermal imaging made this anomaly all too apparent.
